Software Access

UT students, faculty, and staff can get access to many software packages through their connection to the university, often at no or reduced cost. Click on a box below to download or access the software.

Adobe Creative Cloud

(For Faculty and Staff Use Only) Adobe Creative Cloud provides apps, web services, and resources for all your creative projects — photography, graphic design, video editing, UX design, drawing and painting, social media, and more. Creative Cloud, Captivate, and Presenter are included in the Adobe contract.  Licensing for all three is based on specific, named users, and requires UT to assign licenses to a specific employee for all products.

EndNote

The EndNote program, developed by Thomson Reuters, is used by researchers, scholarly writers, students, and librarians to search online bibliographic databases, organize their references, images and PDFs in any language, and create bibliographies and figure lists instantly. EndNote runs on both Windows and Mac.

ESRI ArcGIS Pro

ArcGIS Pro is ESRI’s latest, addition to the ArcGIS collection of desktop software. ArcGIS Pro offers a contemporary design with greater 3D visualization and enhanced integration with ArcGIS Online. Those new to GIS desktop software will likely want to start their GIS learning with ArcGIS Pro.

Kaltura Capture

The Kaltura Capture desktop recorder enables easy video creation anywhere by anyone. Kaltura Capture has a simple user interface, requiring only one click to record, without a complex setup or a lengthy learning curve. Kaltura Capture is supported on both Windows and Mac. You can record two camera inputs at once, two screens, or a camera and a screen. Kaltura Capture automatically uploads new videos into the Kaltura MediaSpace video portal or Kaltura integrations with Learning and Content Management Systems.

Mathematica

Mathematica, developed by Wolfram Research, Inc. (WRI), is computational software used in science, engineering, finance and other areas of computing that require mathematics.

MathWorks MATLAB

MATLAB and Simulink are computational software environments used to perform a variety of computational tasks such as in engineering, science, mathematics, statistics and finance. The toolboxes are collections of functions for solving particular classes of problems, such as signal processing, image processing, control systems, curve fitting, etc.

Microsoft Office365

The license provided to students, faculty, and staff allows for Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to be installed on up to five devices for each user, access to Access and Publisher (on Windows devices only), the online versions of Office Apps, as well as Visio and Project

Nvivo

Nvivo 1.0 is a software package from QSR International that provides computer-assisted qualitative data analysis. The package allows you to collect, organize, and analyze a variety of data types, including text, audio, video, surveys, and social media data. Nvivo 1.0 also has powerful search, query, and visualization tools that allow you to thoroughly examine and explore your data.

Power BI

The Power BI service is a cloud-based business analytics service that enables anyone to visualize and analyze data with greater speed, efficiency, and understanding. It connects users to a broad range of cloud-based and on-premises data through easy-to-use dashboards, interactive reports, and compelling visualizations that bring data to life. Faculty & staff have access to the Pro license, which allows access to all content and capabilities in the Power BI service. You can even share content and collaborate with other Pro users. Only Pro users can publish content to other workspaces, share dashboards, and subscribe to dashboards and reports.

Respondus LockDown Browser

LockDown browser is used for taking tests online in a controlled environment. Open the browser and go to the Canvas Login page. You can not access any other web browsers until the assignment you are using LockDown Browser for is complete

SAS

SAS is a powerful program that does both statistics and data graphics. The binary for SAS is now freely distributed from the OIT Software Download Website with an active license that is valid until May 14, 2021.

SPSS

IBM makes a variety of research software packages, many of which we license for use by students, faculty and staff at The University of Tennessee. The IBM SPSS Statistics program itself is a powerful, yet easy-to-use program that does both statistics and data graphics.

Stata

Stata is a general purpose software package for statistics, data management, and graphics. It offers the flexibility to analyze data using either the programming language or its GUI. Stata is particularly strong in time series, panel data, and the analysis of complex, non-random samples.

Zoom

Zoom, a cloud-based technology, allows faculty, staff, and students to have high-quality interaction in real time from their computers and mobile devices. Zoom’s web-based conferencing uses high-quality video and audio and is accessible on MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android mobile devices. The Zoom recording feature will allow you to save a session for future reference and/or send it to those who are unable to attend. Faculty and staff have access to the Pro license.
